Established in 1994. Darby Scott is an American designer whose namesake brand is noted for a subtle but elegant aesthetic and impeccable craftsmanship. Darby Scott has always been passionate about the old world process of fine manufacturing and producing well made pieces meant to last a lifetime. Harper's Bazaar calls them, "unique must haves" and "forever pieces".
Good design transcends time.
Scott first launched a collection of evening and cocktail dresses in 1994. Her collection immediately attracted top retailers including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
The collections have grown to include clothing, handbags and jewelry as well as men's leather goods and more recently home goods.
Scott took a necessary hiatus following the tragic death of her husband in 1998. With two children to raise alone and a demanding schedule nurturing an emerging business, she re-strategized her brand's focus and returned to the fashion world with a collection of exotic skin handbags, putting her clothing collection on hold. Her unique vision for the handbag collection in combining rich skins and opulent fabrics with semi-precious stones, natural shell, horn, bone and wood helped propel the success of the brand. Darby subsequently broadened the offerings to include elegant jewelry, both fine and fashion. The handbag collection launched in early 2000, again immediately attracting top retailers including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The jewelry collection launched in 2007. Darby, motivated by a desire to show her luxurious clothing again alongside her own handbags and jewelry, made a return to designing ready-to-wear in late 2010.

Her early career was spent in various merchandising and design positions at both US and international fashion houses including Karl Lagerfeld (Bidermann, U.S.A.) and Perry Ellis. Prior to founding her own company, Scott was Vice President of Women’s Merchandising and Design for the North American division of Aquascutum London.
The designer brand has continued to evolve and position itself within the global fashion conversation, garnering a very diverse but loyal following including Madonna, Queen Noor, Rose Marie Bravo and Bette Midler.
Darby recently returned to New England. Her new headquarters, located just 35 miles north of Boston, boasts a fantastically modern design and photography studio inside an historic textile mill complex that dates back to the 1850s.
